This church - Iglesia Espiritu Santo (Holy Spirit church) - also known as Tercera Presbiteriana (Third Presbyterian) - was one of two churches the 2007 mission team visited - in this case - for a farewell worship service with a full band with amplified drums, bass, and guitar. This time the group had visited more churches, and we arrived early Monday morning for partnership conversations with a limited number of people, rather than a full-blown worship service (plus for lunch). Last time I also don't remember the church having the more traditional marimba instrument. This time - upon our request, if I remember right - the Estore o folks serenaded us on the marimba: Pastor Raul, the oldest son of the Espiritu Santo church pastor (Winston), and one of the church's elders or deacons (the three I met were elder Angel and deacons Calixstacula and Earvin Estrada). This church has some 157 members and is located in a neighborhood on the northern end of El Estor called San Marcos. The pastor is José Domingo Xo Ical.
Some other folks from the congregation bid us adieu as we started to pull out of El Estor early Monday afternoon.
